  • Gila Box Riparian National Conservation Area
    Located 20 miles northeast of Safford, the Gila Box Riparian National Conservation Area (RNCA) offers rugged OHV opportunities that include the uplands of Bonita Creek and the foothills of Turtle Mountain and vicinity. Motorized vehicles are restricted to designated roads and the Gila River is CLOSED to ALL motorized vehicles within the boundaries of the RNCA.

  • Black Hills Backcountry Byway
    The old Safford Clifton Highway takes you back in time and offers challenging 4x4 side trips.

  • Hot Well Dunes Recreation Area
    You can get a workout riding on the 1,900 acre "open" dune area, then unwind in one of the two hot tubs near the camping facility. OHV travel is also allowed on the existing routes in the vicinity.

  • Empire Cienega Resource Conservation Area
    Rolling savannah and spectacular views of southeast Arizona's "Sky Islands" can be experienced on the Empire Cienega's extensive network of two-track roads. Vehicle travel is limited to existing roads only.

  • Santa Rita OHV Routes
    Just west of Highway 83 and north of Sonoita, the east side of the Santa Rita Mountains offers miles of roads in high desert and Piñon-Juniper foothills.

  • South Patagonia Mountains
    Between Nogales and Sierra Vista, east of Highway 82, the southern region of the Patagonia Mountain range offers many opportunities for OHV recreation.

    All seasons, avoid wet conditions.
     
  • Mescal Mountains OHV Area
    Area good for beginners and allows all types of OHVs. Use limited to existing roads and trails. Includes picnic and camping areas and restrooms.

  • Pima Motor Sports Park
    Includes competitive and practice/beginner motorcross tracks that allows all types of OHVs. Other riding areas include an ATV track and cross-country trail. Offers ATV certification classes. Park for day use only and includes a fee.

    Details: Three canyons. Huge jumps. Tracks everywhere. This place is for experienced riders. Conditions change weekly. Check every hill before going over, sometimes it will be a cliff. Earthmovers change hills and dump dirt.State property, no signs that say anything about "no trespassing."
    How to get there:Take I-10 south to Casa Grande, get off on first Casa Grande exit. Go right on Pinal and then half a mile turn left on ValVista.Go over the over pass and at the bottom turn left on dirt rode.The bowl will be on right side. You can see it from the freeway.

    Location Name: Tonto National Forest
    Type of Riding Place: Trails
    Location (closest city): Apache Jct, AZ US
    Details: The Tonto National Forest allows riders anywhere on marked forestry trails. Queens Valley area has a few roads that will take you deep into the Superstition Mountains at elevations from 1200' to 5500'. On the South side of the road to Globe is a few roads that run to the Gila River and to the Coke Ovens "Ore Processing ruins" and several old mines with a few rock home ruins and old abandoned ranches. This trip will take you through a 10 mile Box canyon with 200'-300' vertical walls in places and see allot of saguarro "Check Spelling" cactus. These trips rated on a difficulty scale 1-10 are about a 1 to 3 in places.
    How to get there:There is a few good places about 23 miles east Apache Jct twards Globe Az, just past the Florence Jct Turn off. "Queens Valley" on the North and on the South side of the Hywy exists a nice place ride that is some times used by the National Guard for war games..."Dates of use by the Gaurd are Posted at all of the entrance gates".

    Details: The Tonto National Forest allows riders anywhere on marked forestry trails. Sycamore Creek & Four Peaks Mountains are my favorite. Four Peaks has a 40 mile round trip from bottom to top, with early 1900's abandoned ranch houses and windmills scattered around the area.
    How to get there:Approx 19 miles NE of Mesa. Both Riding area's are at the same turn off N. and S. sides of the Road on your way to Payson. Hywy 87
